Director: Gaspar Noe (France 2009)
Gaspar Noe’s technically deft vision of the hereafter, ‘Enter the Void,’ sees a drug trip and the underground drug trade in Tokyo through the eyes of Oscar (Nathaniel Brown), a young American, low-end dealer who is set up by a customer and shot dead by police. When Oscar’s spirit embarks on a hallucinatory out-of-body experience above the city, the film creates an astonishingly immersive world that’s difficult to shake. Sadly, despite its dazzling technical proficiency, the film is terribly acted and painfully overlong.
